WHITEHORSE – Brad Cathers, MLA for Lake Laberge, is very pleased to receive the support of a well-respected local businessman. Rob McIntyre, a leading member of the Yukon’s mining community, announced today that he is supporting Brad Cathers in his campaign to lead the Yukon Party and become the next premier.
“I have known Brad Cathers for 17 years, and I am pleased to support Brad in his campaign for Leadership of the Yukon Party,” said Rob McIntyre. “Brad’s experience as Minister for a long list of departments including Energy, Mines and Resources will help a government under his leadership hit the ground running. It’s time for the Yukon to have an experienced leader as our Premier.”
“Over the course of his career, Rob McIntyre has been an industry leader in promoting and implementing environmentally sensitive mining and reclamation practices,” noted Cathers. “I am honoured to have Rob McIntyre’s support.”
“Brad supports responsible mining and understands the importance of taking action to fix problems in the assessment and permitting processes. He’s a terrific choice for taking the Yukon forward into a future where we have both economic prosperity and a healthy environment,” added McIntyre.
Brad’s vision for improving assessment and permitting in the Yukon if elected Leader of the Yukon Party includes working with all other levels of government and with the business community to find solutions to reduce overlap, duplication and unnecessary delays, while ensuring environmentally responsible mining and reclamation.
