\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Brad Cathers<\/strong> \n FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/span> Brad Cathers Will Seek Reelection In Lake Laberge<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n WHITEHORSE \u2013 Brad Cathers, Yukon Party MLA for Lake Laberge announced today that he is\u00a0seeking the Yukon Party nomination as candidate for the Lake Laberge riding in the upcoming territorial election.<\/p>\n \u201cMy track record of success is due to listening to Yukoners, and working hard on their behalf,\u201d noted Cathers. \u201cWhat I have heard is that Yukoners value a strong diversified economy, the peace and beauty of the wilderness, quality health care, a good education system, an effective\u00a0social safety net, and infrastructure that meets the needs of our homes and communities \u2013 and I share those values.\u201d<\/p>\n First elected in 2002, Cathers has been re-elected three times, gaining the support of more\u00a0voters in every election in the last ten years. In 2016, he received the fourth highest number of votes of any candidate in the entire Yukon.<\/p>\n \u201cI have worked hard for my constituents and all Yukoners, and I am proud of my record for\u00a0delivering results,\u201d said Cathers. \u201cI look forward to seeking a renewed mandate from my\u00a0constituents, and working with my colleagues to win public confidence and form a Yukon Party\u00a0majority government. People want a government of action that will listen to them, and work with them to ensure the future is bright for all Yukoners.\u201d<\/p>\n Brad\u2019s family moved to the Yukon when he was two years old, and to the wilderness on the east\u00a0side of Lake Laberge when he was six. His family home at Lake Laberge has no road access,\u00a0and he grew up with a wilderness lifestyle including hauling water by hand in buckets from a\u00a0creek, cutting firewood, hiking, canoeing, boating, and dog mushing.<\/p>\n Before being elected MLA and for a few years after, Brad worked in the private sector and was\u00a0part-owner of a wilderness tourism business. His experience in government includes serving in\u00a0Cabinet for 8 \u00bd years. He has served as Minister of Health and Social Services; Minister of\u00a0Energy, Mines and Resources; Minister of Community Services; Minister of Justice; Minister for Yukon Development Corporation; Minister for Yukon Energy Corporation; Minister for Yukon\u00a0Workers\u2019 Compensation Health and Safety Board; Minister for Yukon Liquor Corporation and\u00a0Yukon Lottery Commission, and as Government House Leader.
